Weight-Inclusive Nutrition Counseling in Austin, TX
At Khan RD, we offer HAES-informed, weight-inclusive nutrition counseling for people who want to improve their relationship with food without making weight loss the center of care. Sessions are available in Austin and through telehealth across Texas.
Nutrition Counseling without the Diet Culture Noise
A lot of nutrition advice sounds helpful at first, then slowly turns into pressure.
Track everything. Cut this out. Eat perfectly. Ignore hunger. Shrink your body. Earn your food. Start over Monday.
That is not sustainable for most people, and for many clients, it actively makes food feel more stressful. Weight-inclusive nutrition counseling takes a different approach. We focus on behaviors, nourishment, consistency, medical needs, body trust, and your actual quality of life.
What is HAES-informed care?
HAES stands for Health at Every Size. In practice, that means we do not assume weight loss is the solution to every concern.
Instead, we focus on health-supportive behaviors that can be pursued without shame, restriction, or weight stigma.
This may include:
Eating enough throughout the day
Building flexible meal and snack structure
Reconnecting with hunger and fullness cues
Reducing food guilt
Challenging rigid food rules
Creating sustainable routines
Improving body image or body neutrality
Making food feel less chaotic
Moving away from all-or-nothing thinking
The goal is to pursue health without making your body the problem.
Intuitive Eating Nutrition Counseling:
Intuitive eating is a framework for rebuilding trust with your body and reducing the noise around food.
For some clients, that starts with structure. If your hunger cues are unreliable because of restriction, stress, medication, anxiety, digestive issues, or an eating disorder history, we may need to rebuild consistency before relying heavily on body cues.
Nutrition counseling can help you learn how to use intuitive eating in a way that is actually grounded and supportive.
This can support those who:
Are tired of dieting
Feel guilty after eating certain foods
Think about food more than you want to
Struggle with binge/restrict cycles
Want to improve health without pursuing weight loss
Feel disconnected from hunger or fullness
Have been harmed by weight-focused medical advice
Want nutrition support that respects your body
Want structure without rigidity
